File Submission Specs

The following guidelines are offered for clients who are utilizing our services for digitally created documents. If you need your piece designed we can do that too!

Preferred Software Programs(Mac format)
InDesign CS 3 or 4
QuarkXPress 6.5
PDF (Adobe Acrobat)-High resolution, fonts embedded

Please submit a pdf and/or color proof of your job with the files.

Be sure to include all graphics and fonts with the job.

We can sometimes accept files from other programs, but this may result in additional cost and time to complete the job. Please call 651-222-8381 and talk to our designers if you are working in another program.

Accepted Graphic File Formats (Mac format)
.tiff
.eps (please outline fonts)
300 dpi or greater will give the best reproduction quality. If your logo or graphics include type, please outline it.

All files you supply should include the actual graphic file (tiff/ eps). The formats listed above are for best resolution and printing quality. Jpegs, and giffs also will work, but wont produce the same quality as .tiff and .eps.

Color
Please supply your files in Pantone (spot color) or CMYK for four color printing. Pantone solid, coated or uncoated,work best for spot colors. Photos should be grayscale if you are doing a black and white piece and saved as CMYK for 4 color jobs.

PDF files
How to create pdf files will vary depending on the original application the job was created in.

PDF files should be submitted:
To size. If your job is a 4x6 size book, then the pages of the pdf need to be that size. If you are using Microsoft Word your document pages will need to be set up to that final size before you start your formatting.

1 up. Pages should be 1 up individual pages in the file. We will do the imposing.

Include bleeds if needed. If your final piece will bleed please include 1/8 inch beyond the edges of the page.

Colors must separate properly.
